Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family service and involvement in the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team for the year 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's sports department as the assistant director. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
