Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946, into a low-income family, with twelve kids at one point, realized that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a creative mind. She was writing songs before she was able to write or read. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. In the age of 11, she began to sing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. She recorded her first album during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. While she was an established local celebrity while at high school, her goals were bigger. When she was graduating in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show required a new singer at around the time. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974, when her solo singles like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner after their breakup. It made it to No. For the first time, in 1974.
