Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer and television host, as well as philanthropist as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. She emigrated from Greece to England aged 16 where she earned an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Her success as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she graduated. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided an honest assessment of the current state of the nation's politics. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna was famous when she made the decision in 2003 to run as an Independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed the Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of a Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most Popular Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009 and was awarded 12th position on the list. That same year Guardian named her on the top 100 media list. AOL Inc. named her president of their media division in 2011 after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included additional AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father. However, it was her bond with her mother that shaped her. Through her early times, she demonstrated abilities to lead, and for this are still prominently known. Her move to England came at 16, to pursue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the third and first female to be elected the president. In addition, she was a part of the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books, utilizing editorial guidance from him.
