Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish heritage as is her mother. Her father who is from Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. She is the sibling of Vincent, a brother, and Pamela who is a sister. Carter was just 5 years old when she made her television debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. During high school, Carter joined a group named Just Us. The band used a conga drum, marimba, an acoustic bass and stand-up basses. One member of the group was also a guitarist. When she was 15, Lynda began singing at the local pizza shop to earn extra money. She joined her cousins, The Relatives, when she was sixteen. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer of the group. The group first started in the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen due to being older than 21. She was named "Most Talented" and decided to get into music. Carter was a candidate for an audition in 1970. She performed on the tour of The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first concert together was held at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. They played mostly for hotel employees and hotel guests who parked their cars in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit", playing shows in numerous casinos in the state's lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter left the Garfin Gathering for acting, after which she returned to Arizona in 1972.
